In a dramatic incident near Roy, Washington, a Pierce County Sheriff's Office deputy used a lasso to retrieve a 32-year-old man from a pond on Saturday (June 14). The man, whose name was not released, reportedly chased his father with a chainsaw before jumping into the pond.

According to the sheriff's office, the situation began with an argument between the man and his parents. The argument escalated, leading the man to threaten his parents with a chainsaw. Law enforcement officers negotiated with the man for nearly an hour. When negotiations failed, a deputy employed a lasso to pull the man to the shore. The man was then taken to a local hospital for mental health services.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office shared bodycam footage of the incident on their YouTube channel, showcasing the unusual rescue technique.
