Sean "Diddy" Combs' trial was canceled today after one of the jurors experienced a medical episode before the proceedings began.
According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday, June 18, Judge Arun Subramanian put the trial on hold after a juror suffered from symptoms of vertigo. The Cleveland Clinic defines vertigo as "a sensation that the environment around you is spinning in circles." Symptoms of vertigo include dizziness, nausea and vomiting, balance issues, hearing loss in one or both ears, tinnitus (ringing in your ears), headaches and motion sickness. The juror experienced symptoms while making their way into court, which caused them to turn around and go home.
Jurors were expected to hear testimony from Combs' former assistant and alleged drug mule, Brendan Paul. Paul was arrested for carrying cocaine and marijuana-laced candy while he was with Diddy on his private jet at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport last March. He was arrested on the same day the Department of Homeland Security raided both of Diddy's homes in Los Angeles and Miami as part of the government's investigation into alleged sex trafficking. Paul managed to dodge a jail sentence after accepting a plea deal.
The juror experienced vertigo a day after the prosecution had the jury watch clips from three explicit freak-off videos. The prosecutor played 30-second clips from three explicit videos as jurors listened through headphones. No one else in the courtroom was allowed to see the footage. The gallery was extremely quiet while the videos played, which allowed people inside to hear the erotic groans and other sensual sound effects from the jurors' headphones. Despite only hearing 30 seconds of the 11-12 minute videos, jurors reportedly had visible reactions to the clips. One older woman shook her head in disgust while she saw the video, while a younger juror allegedly giggled while watching it.
Combs' trial will resume on Friday following the Juneteenth holiday.
