Fighter jets reportedly intercepted an aircraft near President Donald Trump's private New Jersey golf club on Sunday (July 6), which was the 11th dangerous incursion in a restricted airspace during Fourth of July holiday weekend, the United States Air Force announced via the New York Post.
The private aircraft was directed away from the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster following several previous incidents, with some planes met and forced out of the airspace by F-16 fighter jets operated by the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
“NORAD and the FAA aim to keep the skies over America safe, with close attention paid to areas with Temporary Flight Restrictions to ensure flight safety, national security, and the security of the President,” said Gen. Gregory Guillot of NORAD via the New York Post.
Fighter jets used "headbutt" maneuvers to alert civilian pilots about the earlier interceptions, Reuters reported following an earlier incident on Saturday (July 5), which involves cutting close across a target's nose in order to rattle other aircrafts in order to draw attention, according to the War Zone.
Trump was in Bedminster for the Fourth of July holiday weekend, arriving from the White House on Friday (July 4) evening and was set to return to Washington, D.C. on Sunday.
