Authorities in Turks and Caicos have discovered a decomposing body in a bay, which they suspect may belong to Brian Tarrence, a New Yorker missing for two weeks. Tarrence and his wife, Maria, were on a one-year anniversary trip when he vanished. The last known image of Tarrence was captured by security cameras outside their villa at Paradise Inn around 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday (June 25).
The body was found in a five-foot-deep ditch on the side of the road by search teams on Saturday (July 6) morning. A private investigator, Carl DeFazio, who is working with the Turks and Caicos Police Force, noted that additional security footage shows Tarrence in the area where the body was found. The coroner is working to positively identify the body.
Before his disappearance, Tarrence reportedly exhibited unusual behavior, which concerned his wife. DeFazio mentioned that Tarrence was not under medical care or medication but seemed incoherent. Tarrence was a vice president at Diligent Software, and the company has expressed its support and cooperation with local law enforcement.
The investigation is currently being treated as a death investigation, with no indication of foul play. The search for Tarrence involved many volunteers, and the investigation continues as authorities await the coroner's identification of the body.
