Every city has its challenges, but some places deal with more stress than others. Whether it’s long hours at work, rising living costs, traffic that never ends, or just not enough time to relax, life in the most stressed city in Michigan can feel like a constant grind.

People here might be juggling multiple jobs, worrying about bills, or struggling to find a balance between work and personal life. When a whole community is feeling that pressure, it starts to affect everything from relationships to public safety. Some people might live perfectly happy, stress-free lives in this city, but on average, it's a stressful place to inhabit.

According to a list compiled by WalletHub, based on metrics of mounting work stress, financial stress, family stress, and health and safety concerns, the most stressed city in Michigan (and America) is Detroit.

Cleveland, Ohio, Baltimore, Maryland, Gulfport, Mississippi, and Memphis, Tennessee, rounded out the top five.

Here's what WalletHub had to say about compiling the data to discover the most stressed cities across the country:

"In order to determine the most and least stressed cities in America, WalletHub compared 182 cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across four key dimensions: 1) Work Stress, 2) Financial Stress, 3) Family Stress, and 4) Health & Safety Stress. Our sample considers only the city proper in each case and excludes cities in the surrounding metro area."
