Finding a place to call home for yourself and your pets can be a difficult search. Some renters face high added costs, while homebuyers' dream house may be far from any veterinarians or dog parks. However, man's best friend deserves a great place to live just as much as their human companions.

WalletHub looked at 100 cities around the country to find which are the most pet-friendly cities to make a home with your furry friends. Among the cities on the list are two spots in Missouri, including one that ranked in the Top 10 as one of the best spots for pet owners:

  • No. 6: St. Louis
  • No. 32: Kansas City

Of the Show-Me State locales on the list, St. Louis ranked the highest, though both cities earned high marks in the pet budget category.

These are the 10 most pet-friendly cities in America:

  1. Scottsdale, Arizona
  2. Tampa, Florida
  3. Cincinnati, Ohio
  4. Las Vegas, Nevada
  5. Portland, Oregon
  6. St. Louis, Missouri
  7. Orlando, Florida
  8. Birmingham, Alabama
  9. Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky
  10. Austin, Texas

To determine the list, WalletHub compared the 100 most populated cities in the U.S. across three factors: pet budget, pet health & wellness and outdoor pet-friendliness. These factors were then evaluated using 23 relevant metrics, including veterinary care costs, dog insurance premium, pet caretakers per capita, dog-friendly restaurant per capita, pet-friendliness of rental market, average home square footage, animal shelters per capita, strength of animal protection laws, weather, dog parks per capita, walk score and more.
