Police in Moscow, Idaho, have released new images of the crime scene where four University of Idaho students were murdered on November 13, 2022. The images, obtained through a public records request by KTVB, reveal the King Road home where the victims—Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin—were killed. The photos show the victims' bedrooms, the sliding door used by the killer, Bryan Kohberger, and blood on a door.

Kohberger, a former criminology student at Washington State University, pleaded guilty to the murders in July to avoid the death penalty. He is serving four consecutive life sentences without parole in solitary confinement at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution.

The investigation revealed that Kohberger left behind a single DNA trace on a knife sheath at the crime scene. This, along with surveillance footage, genetic genealogy, school records, and cellphone data, helped police link Kohberger to the murders. The case initially broke when a BOLO alert was issued for a 2011 white Hyundai Elantra seen near the crime scene.

Kohberger was arrested at his family home in Pennsylvania in late 2022 and extradited to Idaho in early 2023. Despite his efforts to clean his car and eliminate evidence, prosecutors were able to charge him with four counts of first-degree murder by May 2023. His unexpected guilty plea last month concluded the trial before it began.
