Kid Cudi Recalls How He Felt When Drake Dissed Him While He Was In Rehab

Kid Cudi took a stroll down memory lane to reflect on his previous issues with Drake.

During an interview CBS Mornings published on Wednesday, August 13, the Cleveland rapper, born Scott Mescudi, opens up about his new memoir, in which he wrote about his beef with Drizzy. Their issues began after Cudi claimed Drake and Ye couldn't be Top 5 rappers because they use writers. The Canadian rapper reacted by making fun of Cudi's stint in rehab on his 2016 song "Two Birds, One Stone." Cudi shared how he felt after he first heard the disrespectful bars and revealed that he never wanted to respond to him on wax.

“I was like, oh okay, you wanna kick me when I’m down. Great," he said. "But he wanted to play the game with me. He wanted me to put him in my song or whatever and I’m not that type of artist.”

“I’m not going to the studio angry rapping about some other man and putting him in my art," Cudi continued. "That’s not what we’re gonna do here. I’m gonna come to your doorstep and I’mma let you know that I’mma see you. I’mma see you and that’s a promise.”

Cudi's fans didn't take the diss well, and the "Grave" rapper acknowledges that in the book. Cudi explained that he and Drake eventually put their differences aside in 2018 with Ye's help, and even tried to work together on some music. However, Cudi claims the OVO Sound founder eventually ghosted him and never heard back from him again.

“It just let me know that time is over. We’ll never be homies like we were before. I don’t have any beef with him anymore and I’m not mad at him or anything. It’s just time has gone by. [We are in] different places. It’s all good. I know he loves me. I know that. And I know he respects me as an artist. That’s good enough for me.”
