Wearing white to someone else's wedding is often viewed as a fashion faux pas, but there are some exceptions to the rule — such as when the dress code demands it.

In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, Dua Lipa finally addressed why she was photographed wearing a white dress while attending the wedding of Simon Porte Jacquemus and Marco Maestri, per People. She wore a sheer white dress with a mermaid skirt, cap sleeves and floral embellishments for the August 2022 nuptials, and while she said the controversial ensemble "caused a little bit of a stir," she had a good for the all-white outfit.

"The dress code was white," she said. "From all the pictures you can see that everybody's wearing white, so I don't know why I got so much stick for it."

Additionally, she wore the dress because Jacquemus, the dress designer as well as one of the grooms, asked her to.

"So it was at his request that I wore this dress to his wedding," she said. "I absolutely loved it. I felt so good in it. It was just unbelievable. I feel like I talk about that wedding still to this day."

However, the "Levitating" singer did understand that the look may have been polarizing for another reason outside of its color, admitting, "I think also because I was kind of quite naked for it as well."

Lipa is preparing to walk down the aisle for her own wedding after getting engaged to boyfriend Callum Turner. She confirmed their engagement earlier this year, gushing over her ring while revealing they had yet to start making plans for the big day.
