The Hip-Hop community took a major blow after Rich Homie Quan unexpectedly left this world way too soon.

On September 5, 2024, the respected hitmaker was found dead in his home after he reportedly overdosed on fentanyl and other drugs. The Fulton County Medical Examiner in Georgia said the rapper, born Dequantes Lamar, had a deadly mix of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine and promethazine in his system when he died. The medical examiner also found THC in his body, but the marijuana didn't contribute to his demise. His death was ruled as an accidental overdose. He was only 34.

According to a 911 call, his girlfriend, Amber Williams, discovered him on the couch early that morning and put a blanket on him because she thought he was asleep. When she came back from dropping off their kids at school, Williams noticed he wasn't breathing. He also began to foam at the mouth when she turned him over. He was pronounced dead on the scene, and his body was transported to a morgue.

The late rapper, who rose to fame thanks to songs like "Type Of Way," "Walk Thru" and more, was laid to rest in his hometown. During the service, the city of Atlanta declared September 17 as Rich Homie Quan Memorial Day in front of his family and friends. Mayor Andre Dickens, Killer Mike and DC Young Fly delivered remarks at the funeral. His homegoing celebration was recapped in the music video for Quan's posthumous track "Song Cry." The late artist appeared in select scenes he shot before he passed away.

Rich Homie Quan's family released his first posthumous album, Forever Going In, a month after his death. The album has 32 tracks, including collaborations with 2 Chainz, Skilla Baby, Lil Tjay, Plies and more. On the first anniversary of his passing, Rich Homie Quan's family released his new single "Mama Said" as a tribute to his mother. Listen to the track below.

Rest in peace, Rich Homie Quan.
