Genovia is about to have a royal scandal on its hands after its queen was "arrested" by Sabrina Carpenter.
At her Short n' Sweet tour stop in New York on Sunday (October 26), the "Manchild" singer placed Anne Hathaway "under arrest" during the segment of the show where she "arrests" a concert-goer for being "too hot." According to a video shared to social media, the audience immediately began to scream and cheer when the actress was revealed to be the lucky fan featured on the big screen.
Like she does for all arrests, Carpenter asked where Hathaway was from, and her response of Genovia sent the crowd into a frenzy. Genovia is the name of the fictional country from the Princess Diaries, the beloved franchise in which Hathaway portrayed princess-turned-queen Mia Thermopolis. A third film was previously confirmed to be in the works.
"Has anyone ever told you you look like a princess?" Carpenter asked the Devil Wears Prada star, causing Hathaway to smile and make a heart with her hands as the crowd continued to cheer. "I'm in the presence of a princess, I'm getting so flustered!"
Carpenter then handed Hathaway a pair of fuzzy pink handcuffs and arrested her "for being the most perfect princess in the world" before leading into a performance of her song "Juno."
Hathaway is the latest celebrity to be arrested during one of Carpenter's shows. Last week, Gigi Hadid found herself in the hot seat when she was placed "under arrest," later admitting she was "guilty as charged" when sharing a photo of the moment on her Instagram Stories. Other arrests include the Spice Girls' Emma Bunton, Frida actress Salma Hayek and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, to name a few.
