President Donald Trump expressed his desire for Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene to return to politics, despite their recent disagreements, NBC News reported. Speaking to the news outlet, Trump said he'd "love to see" to her revive her political career, but noted “It’s not going to be easy for her."

Greene announced her resignation from Congress, effective January 2026, following a public fallout with Trump. She cited her intention to avoid a divisive primary and predicted Republican losses in the upcoming midterms as reasons for her departure.

Greene, who became a prominent figure in the Republican Party, faced criticism from Trump after she pushed for the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a move that initially put her at odds with Trump. Greene defended her actions, stating, "Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked, and used by rich powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor."

Despite their differences, Trump acknowledged Greene's service, saying he appreciated her contributions to the country. He indicated openness to reconciliation, telling reporters, "Sure, why not? I mean, I get along with everybody."

Greene's resignation ends a five-year career in Washington, where she was known for her controversial rhetoric and strong support of Trump's "America First" agenda.

Greene's decision to step down comes amid a backdrop of personal threats and criticism over her past statements. She has since apologized for her "toxic" rhetoric and has no current plans to run for office, though she has shown interest in state positions, according to BBC. Her departure will impact the Republican-led House, which holds a slim majority over Democrats. The midterm elections in November 2026 will determine control of the chamber.
