Katy Perry is hitting back at claims she used AI in her latest music video by sharing a new behind-the-scenes clip revealing the truth.
On Tuesday (November 24), Perry took to her Instagram to address rumors that she utilized artificial intelligence in order to create a heart-stopping scene included in the music video for her new single "bandaids." The jaw-dropping moment in question featured Perry sitting on a tree branch and sawing the wrong side before the branch snapped and she fell, hurtling toward the ground. In reality, it was all a practical effect completed by a team of specialists and a stunt double for the singer.
"Suh dude 🪚 For those of you that thought this was AI... it wasn't. Cool dude," she wrote in the caption.
The new clip caught the movie magic from behind the scenes, documenting the way the branch was carefully controlled by wires that stopped short of hitting the ground. The camera panned to reveal Perry looking on, nodding and saying, "I love it, let's do it," before taking her chance to film the scene.
The "Woman's World" singer appeared more than ready for the challenge, joking that the crew "forget I went to space in April" as she walked toward the tree, referring to her historic trip to the edge of space as part of an historic all-female crew with Blue Origin.
Perry dropped her newest single "bandaids" last month alongside a video full of death-defying scenarios. The vulnerable track about doing everything possible to make a relationship work seemingly provided insight into her split from longtime partner and former fiancé Orlando Bloom. The pair, who share 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, called it quits earlier this summer after more than eight years together. She has since sparked a romance with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
