Just as December has arrived, Elton John is helping to ring in the holiday season in the best way possible with a new video posted to social media that has now gone viral featuring his Yuletide hit "Step Into Christmas" — which just hit an impressive milestone.
In the clip, Elton is making his way around the kitchen, opening up cabinets, drawers, his oven and more as his 1973 holiday classic comes pouring out of them on full blast as he screams with horror and quickly closes everything. The video ends with the message, "It must be that time of year again...," with the caption reading, "If you can’t escape it, you might as well Step Into Christmas! Who's ready?"
"Step Into Christmas" just hit a major milestone, earning RIAA Platinum status in the U.S. more than 50 years after its 1973 debut. The song has steadily grown into a seasonal favorite, topping the charts, and even achieving Triple Platinum status there in 2023.
Just last year, Elton released a new, delightfully over-the-top music video starring Cara Delevingne as a fabulously chaotic, ’70s-era Elton, celebrating the song’s legacy with humor and heartfelt tribute. Co-written with Bernie Taupin, the track continues to capture the festive spirit for new generations each year.
