Aubrey O'Day alleges that Sean "Diddy" Combs removed her from Danity Kane because she declined his sexual advances.
The former contestant of MTV's "Making The Band 3" spoke about her experience with the Bad Boy Records founder in Netflix's new docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning. In the third episode, O'Day recalled how Combs treated her during her time in the girl group. She also claimed that he called her "the looker" and constantly "crossed the line."
"He was separating me and there was a different set of expectations from me, and I just naturally float into the grooming," she explained.
At the end of Aubrey O'Day was selected to form Danity Kane in 2005 alongside Dawn Richard, Aundrea Fimbres, Shannon Bex and D. Woods. The group released their self-titled debut album in 2006 and hit the charts with songs like "Show Stopper" and "Damaged." Combs ultimately fired O'Day and D. Woods before the group disbanded in 2009. In the documentary, O'Day alleged the real reason why she was removed from the group was that she rebuffed his sexual advances. She claimed he sent her inappropriate emails with images of his penis.
“I don’t wanna just f**k you," O'Day read from an alleged email Combs sent her. "I wanna turn you out. I can see you being with some motherf**ker that you tell what to do. I make my woman do what I tell her to do, and she loves it. I just want — and like — to do things different. I’ma finish watching this porn and finish masturbating. I’ll think of you, happy face. If you change your mind and get ready to do what I say, hit me. Happy face. God bless, Diddy. God is the greatest.”
"This is your boss at your work sending you that e-mail," O'Day added. "What happens in real life to anyone else? Your boss gets fired. Six months later, I was fired. I absolutely felt that I was fired for not participating sexually."
In the final episode, O'Day got emotional as she reflected on one woman's affidavit, in which she claims she saw Combs sexually assaulting O'Day with another man while the singer was passed out. The woman said she was looking for the bathroom when she walked in on the alleged sexual act. O'Day said she had no recollection of the incident and even confronted the woman about it.
"I said, 'Could she be making a mistake,'" O'Day explained. "She was certain, she said you can come public with this, I'm gonna stand by you. I know what I saw."
Combs' rep denied all the allegations made in the docuseries and claimed the program, which is executive produced by 50 Cent, is a "shameful hit piece" that uses "stolen footage." Netflix recently hit back and said all the footage that's featured in the docuseries was obtained legally.
