Nick Jonas is sharing an inspirational message with fans as he celebrates a brand new year.
On Thursday (January 1), the Jonas Brothers musician, 33, posted a heartfelt video to Instagram in honor of both the new year and his new solo single "Gut Punch," from his upcoming fifth solo album Sunday Best. Joking in the caption that he was "feeling sentimental" and "might delete later," Jonas explained why he wanted to release the track at the start of the new year.
"Wow, what a year 2025 was. One of my favorite years of my life, to be honest," he said. "Today, I am feeling all the 'start of the year' feelings — reflective, definitely like a little anxiety, but I'm just gonna kinda curb that for a minute and say that I wanted to put 'Gut Punch' out on this day specifically for all those feelings. Not just for me, but for all of you who might be feeling the same way."
He added, "There's a lot of pressure to be the perfect version of yourself at the start of the year, and that's just not possible. And that's OK."
Jonas concluded his message by sharing that he was going to surround himself with his loved ones and "feel grateful for the simple things" in his life before he affirmed to fans that you don't have to be "defined by your hurt or you mistakes."
According to People, Jonas explained in a statement that the single is a look inward at how the stress of life has shaped his self-image, including in his role as a husband to wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas and father to their 3-year-old daughter Malti Marie.
"I tend to be hyper critical of myself, not typically about my appearance or getting older, but I was wondering, 'Am I doing everything to be the best version of myself? Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father?'" he said. "As time goes by, the stress and complications of life will with on you. It's important to remember there was once a version of you who was carefree and loved the world."
Sunday Best drops February 6.
