Essentially the solo vehicle for singer/songwriter Jackson Phillips, Oakland, California's Day Wave make atmospheric, '80s-influenced synth- and guitar-based pop. One half of the similarly inclined electronic duo Carousel, Phillips is known for his yearning, often melancholic songs that combine the immediacy of lo-fi bedroom productions with the sonically blurred colorations of ambient and noise pop.
