Based around band founder Dan Bejar's rakish vocals and obtuse songwriting persona, Destroyer has been in a constant state of evolution since starting out in 1995. Bejar split his time between Destroyer and other bands of note like the New Pornographers and Swan Lake, among others, but Destroyer gradually grew from their Bowie-esque indie folk of their early recordings into far more ambitious experiments with arrangement, instrumentation, and delivery.
