Dirge

French post-metal/doom metal outfit Dirge first formed as a duo back in 1994. Initially embracing more industrial aspects of the genre, the group would expand in membership and sound, eventually drawing comparisons with such bands as Isis and Neurosis. The first changes started taking place in 1997, when the duo added one, and this trio began to explore more ‘noise' elements, and by 1998, were ready to put their work to format, releasing the album Down, Last Level that year.
