New Zealand duo Earth Tongue play a fuzz-laden blend of proto-metal, stoner rock, early prog, and psychedelia that manages to be tuneful and crushingly powerful at once. Earth Tongue started as a side project for Gussie Larkin of Mermaidens but developed a strong following of its own after their 2019 album, Floating Being, became an underground success among fans of idiosyncratic heavy rock.
