First Aid was formed by Scott Jacks (keyboards) and Dave Coupland (drums) in 1982. They added Bruce Goertzen as their guitarist and Jamey Koch on bass to complete the original lineup. The group began playing their native Vancouver, BC, early the next year. They began working with a number of vocalists, eventually hiring on Chris Catalano.
