Whittier, California's Funeral Party mixes dance-punk's surging energy with emo's anthemic charge. Named after a song by the Cure, the band features vocalist Chad Elliot, guitarist James Torres, and bassist Kimo Kauhola; the trio formed the band to escape their hometown. Inspired by the dance-punk revival in East L.A., Funeral Party played around the area, or tried to play, since many of the shows they booked were shut down before they could perform.
