New age composer Jeffrey Fisher excelled in a number of fields beyond music. As a painter, he exhibited his work in museums and galleries. As an author, he published a series of books of poetry and a study of Chinese philosophy and martial arts called T'ai Chi Basics. His work as a teacher of T'ai Chi Chuan and as a practitioner of healing and massage therapy, including acupressure, Reiki, and reflexology treatments, informed the kind of music he wrote, which was, in part, intended to accompany such sessions.
