Venezuelan urbano artist Maikel Rafael Rico Torres decided to follow in his dad's footprints while in his early teens; even though he went on to fully immerse himself in the urban sounds of contemporary Latin music, his style retained a lingering vallenato influence. Determined to break into the industry, he moved to Medellín (one of the epicenters of Latin pop) and in 2020 won a contest sponsored by renowned producers the Rudeboyz and a Colombian radio station.
