b. Nanaco Sota, Japan. Nanaco first entered the music industry by chance. As a university student in Japan she was approached by friends from the campus music club about an upcoming audition for a record company which was looking for female singer-songwriters. With her brother's encouragement and a friend's accompanying guitar playing she appeared singing her own composition, and won both the contest and a recording contract.
