Born in the U.K. in 1953, Peter Child is professor of music at M.I.T. in Boston. He has lived in the U.S. since enrolling at Reed College under a junior-year exchange program. Child received his Ph.D. in composition from Brandeis University in 1981; his principal composition tutors have included William Albright, Arthur Berger, Martin Boykan, Jacob Druckman, and Seymour Shifrin.
