While bachata singer Ralphy Dreamz was born in New York, he grew up in thrall of the traditional Dominican music his parents would play around the house. In his teenage years he learned how to play guitar, and during a prolonged stay in the Dominican Republic he also formed his first band, Bachata Dreamz. Ralphy decided to go solo when he turned 18, around the same time his family relocated to Florida, the epicenter of the Latin music industry.
