A singer of distinct, controlled passion, Sharon Van Etten has carved out a loyal audience with hushed, intense albums that have traversed indie folk and darker synth songs. She signed with the lauded Jagjaguwar label after releasing a series of albums on her own in the 2000s, but it was the indie folk-rock-oriented Tramp -- her 2012 debut for the label -- that brought her wider acclaim.
