Ted Turner (real name David Allen Turner) was born in 1950. He began playing guitar at the age of 17 and in 1969 became a founding member of Wishbone Ash. While still in that band, in 1971, he recorded with John Lennon. Turner left the music biz in 1974, but it was a short retirement.
