The Beach Nuts were one of several studio-only groups that released tracks to which Lou Reed contributed in the mid-1960s, when he was a staff songwriter and session musician at the budget/exploitation label Pickwick. "Cycle Annie" is the one Beach Nuts track to have attained reasonably wide circulation to Lou Reed/Velvet Underground fans, via its inclusion on the Velvet Underground rarities bootleg The Velvet Underground Etc..
