Some producers are forever associated with a specific artist and others, like Minneapolis' Tim Mac, are associated with a scene. In Mac's case that scene revolves around the group of guitar-driven, post-punk bands that recorded for the Minneapolis-based Amphetamine Reptile label. A member of a band himself, Halo of Flies, Mac's production credits grew out of his friendships with other local musicians, as well as his cheap rates.
