Just a few days after his show-stopping pair of performances on "Saturday Night Live," word has surfaced that Bruno Mars will open the 2016 American Music Awards.
Despite his win for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist award in 2011, Mars' performance at this year's ceremony will mark his very first number on the AMA stage. It also comes at a convenient time for the pop star as his new album, 24K Magic, will drop two days before the ceremony.
No word on additional performers for the show, but it'd make sense to see an appearance from Drake, considering the Young Money MC is up for 13 nominations, beating a 32-year record for the most AMA nods in a year. Michael Jackson previously hit an all-time peak with 11 back in 1984.
The 2016 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
