Slayer has responded to the controversy surrounding a photoshopped image posted to the band's official Instagram account of the group with Donald Trump giving the metal horns. Frontman Tom Araya said he posted the photo and called people angry about it "snowflakes" in the caption.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, the group said, "as was verified by Tom, this was his post, is not something the band would have posted if asked, and does not belong on a Slayer social page." It continues, "we all have our personal opinions, some of which we have voiced in the past, but Slayer has never endorsed any political party or any candidate, and the band intends to keep it that way."
The edited photo was originally posted on inauguration day but was deleted. Araya reposted the image with the caption below.
During an interview with Rolling Stone in the summer, guitarist Kerry King called Trump, "the biggest liar I've ever seen in politics." "I mean, most of them are liars, but he just outright in-your-face lies," he continued.
