Perrie Edwards Defends Louis Tomlinson After His Arrest

Little Mix is currently making the rounds of promo, and during a recent interview with Canadian TV show "etalk," Perrie Edwards was asked about her thoughts on Louis Tomlinson's arrest. (To bring you up to speed, the former One Direction singer was recently arrested at LAX after an altercation with a paparazzo; his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, also got into an altercation with a fan. LT was charged with simple battery.)

Perrie, of course, was previously engaged to Louis' one-time 1D bandmate ZAYN, and she immediately came to Louis’ defense.

"It's a hard situation because you don’t know how you would act unless you’re in that situation, but Louis is such a nice guy," she said diplomatically. "When you watch the video, all he's doing is protecting his girlfriend like any normal guy would, but because he's in what was one of the biggest bands in the world people are just going to be constantly on him, which I think is unfair for him and Eleanor."

While Perrie and her Little Mix bandmates undoubtedly experience plenty of unwanted paparazzi attention of their own, Perrie also knows first-hand what it’s like to be the girlfriend of a One Direction singer — so she can really relate here, particularly because she's friends with Eleanor and spent a great deal of time with her in 1D's prime.

"I think that sometimes people can forget that you’re a human being," Jesy Nelson added of the incident. "Like, they get so caught up in the fact that they see you on TV and it's not real life to them."

Fame: It is certainly not all that it’s cracked up to be.
