Harry Styles' first-ever solo show was one he will probably remember forever. The former One Direction member celebrated his self-titled debut album during his iHeartRadio Album Release Party in a very special location: Rough Trade in Brooklyn, New York. The location is famous to Brooklyn as an independent record store (that sells actual vinyl records), as well as an intimate concert venue for amazing live performances ... like fans were able to experience from Harry himself.
Harry's very first solo album features ten new songs, including his debut solo single "Sign of the Times," as well as a few other songs he's shared with fans previously like "Ever Since New York" and "Sweet Creature."
Fans can tune in to a special broadcast of Harry's iHeartRadio Album Release Party live from Rough Trade beginning Friday, May 12th at 7 PM through the next ten days following on a special pop-up station where they can listen to the whole show on loop for. Listen right HERE or by clicking below.
During his iHeartRadio Album Release Party, Harry performed several songs from his self-titled debut, including "Ever Since New York" (which he performed twice - at the very beginning and at the very end) and also belted out "Sign of the Times," during an unforgettable performance But he also performed songs that he hadn't played in front of fans before: "Carolina" and "Two Ghosts."
Harry even sang happy birthday to an 8-year-old girl named Sienna, who he pulled on stage to sing to -- the new "Queen of Being 8," as the crowd named her. Harry ended his album release party by throwing his guitar pick into the crowd, and with a stage dive — his first one ever.

The 23-year-old also talked about the making of his new album during a Q&A portion of the show, hosted by iHeartRadio's Maxwell. "I'm very proud of this album. It's a piece of me I don't think I've ever really put out before. I'm happy, I can't complain," he said. "I've just loved writing and being able to put it together into in an album. I've never made an album myself before, so I felt like I learned a lot during the process." Harry adds of the album writing process while in Jamaica:
"I was with an amazing group of people making this album. It's hard going into a room with people you don't know and being honest. I think it's hard to do that. I feel very grateful that the people I was with allowed me to do that, and made an environment where I felt like I could say what I wanted to say, and I wouldn't have made it without them. This is my chance to be like 'yes it was all me.' But it was amazing. Jamaica was great for me."
In case you didn't already know, there was a moment during where Harry played a few songs for Ed Sheeran, who ended up really liking one of the tracks that didn't make the album. So what's it like to hear that from an artist like Ed? Harry replied, "I mean, there was definitely a second of like, 'Oh. Oh no.' But, I think the things is, when you're making music, you have to make what you love. And, I don't really know what else you're supposed to do. I don't know, this is my first [album]."
When Maxwell asked about the process of narrowing down the songs to its final track listing from everything he's recorded, Harry replied he has a lot of songs beyond the tracks on his self-titled debut, and even teased releasing another album. "I have a lot more than these 10 songs. These 10 songs feel like they were the right thing for the first album. And, maybe I'll just make another one."
Aside from releasing his first album, Harry is also heading out on his first solo headlining tour this year, performing at iconic venues like Radio City Music Hall in New York City and Los Angeles' The Greek Theatre, among many others. He says of the upcoming trek:
"It's my first tour. I'm playing rooms a lot of my favorite artists have played. They're beautiful rooms, and I love going to shows in places like that, so I'm looking forward to it. I honestly just want it to be fun. I have so much fun playing these songs, so I hope people have fun. I think it will be fun."
Maxwell also asked Harry about his One Direction buddies and their solo endeavors. Harry said that being in the band had changed all of their lives, and that it's an exciting time for everyone. "I think it's a really exciting time for all of us. We went through something together that ... I don't know. People don't get to experience that. It was such an amazing thing and changed all of our lives, and now we're in this really exciting time when everyone's making music, and putting it out, and doing really well. It's amazing."
