Colin Kaepernick Reacts To Meek Mill's Prison Sentence In Powerful IG Post

Last week, Meek Mill was sent back to prison by a Philly judge who claims that the rapper violated his probation, which he's been on for 12 years. 

Since this abrupt sentencing, many friends and famous faces have come forward to defend the recording artist. Many believe that the judge who sent Meek back behind bars did something that was completely uncalled for. From T.I., Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and even his everyday fans protesting in the streets; supporters have the rapper's back.

One very prominent person who's known for speaking out about the government's wrongdoing is Colin Kaepernick. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback was named GQ's "Citizen Of The Year" on Monday (Nov. 13) because of his kneeling protests during the NFL's national anthems, and for speaking out for discriminated people who's voices often go unheard. 

Continuing to show why he's the people's champ, Kap spoke about Meek's recent incarceration on IG. He uploaded a photo of the rapper and captioned it: "Roughly 2.2 million people are incarcerated in the United States, an increase of 1.9 million since 1972. America professes to be the land of the free, yet it has the world’s largest prison population – with one-quarter of the globes prisoners, and just 5% of the total population."

He continued his message: "Meek Mill is a victim of this systemic oppression.Yes, there needs to be action surrounding sentencing reform, but there needs to also be action taken around abolishing the radicalized norms of injustice that can lead to Meek Mill serving 2-4 years in prison for non-violent parole violations, and Brock Turner only serving 3 months in prison for three felony counts of sexual assault."
