Invasion of Privacy includes 13 new songs, and before its official release, Cardi had shared her record-breaking, smash hit "Bodak Yellow," "Bartier Cardi" featuring 21 Savage (which she just released the video for), "Be Careful," and her latest Invasion of Privacy song "Drip" featuring Migos.
Cardi's new album is stacked with amazing collaborations with artists including 21 Savage, Kehlani, SZA, Migos, and Chance the Rapper. The Bronx-born 25-year-old tells iHeartRadio of what it was like to work with Chance:
"I felt like Chance the Rapper was perfect for this song. This song, I want it to bring out positivity to people, I want it to be a good vibe. I want it to, you know, sometimes you see a lot of negativity, I have to remind myself of the positive. And that's what this record's all about and Chance the Rapper is such a positive person, such an amazing person, and I wanted him on my record."
During an exclusive interview with iHeartRadio, Cardi B opened up about the making of Invasion of Privacy, and she tells us that the hardest songs for her to record were the more melodic tracks like "Be Careful With Me." She explains:
"The hardest songs to record for me, [were] the ones that I had to be extremely melodic in. For example, 'Be Careful With Me,' 'Thru Your Phone,' and 'Privacy.' When it came to 'Be Careful With Me,' I really wanted to do the hook. I don't want it to sound very sing-y. I really was trying to make sure it didn't sound like I was trying to sing, but still with the melody, but like an open letter. And then, 'Thru Your Phone,' I used to sing in high school, but it's like, you know, I kind of lost it. I don't do it anymore as often. So I had a whole lot of takes, until I got the hook perfect like I wanted it. The easiest records were, everything else, 'Get Up 10,' 'Money Bag,' 'Came Through Drippin'... songs that I could rap, it was just a breeze for me."
