Frances Bean Cobain says she her relationship to her father, Kurt Cobain, who died before her second birthday, isn't that of a typical daughter and father.

The younger Cobain says she never got to know her dad, and as a result, only knows about him based on stories from other people.

"My dynamic with him is probably more similar to a fan's dynamic, like this untouchable thing," Frances said at the opening of the Growing Up Kurt Cobain museum (via Alternative Nation) made up of the late-Nirvana frontman's personal effects.

"All the information I have about him...it's second-hand, it's stories," she continued. "He is kind of unavoidable in my life. It's hard for me to walk down the street and not see a Nirvana shirt every single freaking day."

Frances, 26, says she's struggled over the years with how inescapable her father's legacy is.

"He's around me every day of my life, whether I want him to be or not," she added. "I get to remember him whether I want to or not. It's powerful, because it humbles you, because it's so far-reaching."

Frustration comes out of how unpredictable the memories are, she said.

"Some days, I'll be at a coffee shop and I'll be having a time, having a moment and it'll come on, and I'll be like, 'I can't even...'"

Frances is a model and film producer, who has also shown an interest in songwriting. She's yet to announce whether she plans to record any music.
