Kendrick Lamar continues to make history.
On Saturday (August 4), the rapper's debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city became the fourth hip-hop album to spend 300 weeks on the Billboard Charts — a feat only accomplished by one other rapper, Eminem.
Kendrick's six-year-old Grammy-nominated album currently sits at No. 116 on the Billboard 200, marking the first time a hip-hop album has reigned supreme for 300 weeks since Eminem's Recovery in 2017. (The Detroit rapper's albums, The Eminem Show, and Curtain Call: The Hits, have also been on the Billboard 200 for 300 plus weeks.)
It must be noted that good kid, m.A.A.d city's 300-week reign was nearly consecutive.
Kendrick now joins an elite group of artists, including Pink Floyd and Bob Marley, to achieve the honor. Only 22 albums have hit the mark.

It's been quite the year for the Compton-born rapper. In April, Kendrick's album DAMN. was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Music, making it the first time a non-classic or jazz artist has won the award. The album also won Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammys. Kendrick additionally won Best Rap Performance for “Humble,” Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Loyalty” with Rihanna, and Best Music Video for “Humble.”
Good kid, m.A.A.d was certified triple-platinum in June. The album was a labor of love for Kendrick, who revealed in September 2017 that the project took many redos. “We did good kid about three, four times before the world got to it,” he said. “New songs, new everything.”
