New Jersey Woman Covers Man’s Tab At Wawa, Turns Out To Be Keith Urban

A New Jersey woman’s decision to pay it forward gifted her a moment she’ll never forget.  

A few years ago, Ruth Reed made the resolution to pay for someone’s bill at Wawa (a convenience store) at least once a week. Little did she know that on Friday (August 3) the man she would treat to a coffee would actually be country superstar Keith Urban. Here’s how it went down:

“This man was short a few dollars, he asked a lady with him if she had money,” Ruth wrote of the encounter on Facebook. “I jumped in and said I would pay and explained why. He thanked me and asked my name. I asked him his [name] and he told me it was Keith.”

At this point, Ruth said she still didn’t know he was the Keith Urban. In fact, she thought he was a guy down on his luck.

“I said that he did look like Keith Urban, [and] he said he was,” she explained. “I didn’t believe him. I asked where [his wife] Nicole [Kidman] was and who was the lady [he was with]. He told me it was his sister. He finally said that I could ask his bodyguard.”

After confirming with Keith’s bodyguard that Keith was, in fact, Keith Urban, Ruth said, “It was then I realized what an idiot I was.”

Following the funny encounter, the two snapped a picture for what will surely be a moment Ruth will never forget.  

Keith was in New Jersey for a concert. Hey played at Camden’s BB&T Pavilion on Friday night.
