Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee Are Recording Together

Mötley Crüe's former rhythm section of bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee are apparently working together again on a new musical project.

Mötley Crüe's official Facebook page recent shared a photo of the pair in what appears to be a recording studio along with their iconic rock band's favorite producer Bob Rock.

To make no mistake about whether or not the photo was a throwback, the band's account included the caption, "28th August 2018."

Lee captioned the same photos on Instagram, writing, "It's that new s--t!!!!"

The photo of the two former bandmates in the studio provides tantalizing context to a video of Lee apparently recording drums, which he posted to Instagram on Monday.

Mötley Crüe embarked on a 164-date farewell tour in 2015. Sixx himself has repeatedly shot down talk of any further reunions, insisting that he wants to keep the band's legacy "intact."

The band even signed a "cessation of touring" contract precluding them from performing as Mötley Crüe ever again.

Sixx's other band, Sixx A.M. has been on hiatus since last year, though the bassist has spoken a lot in recent years about renewing his love for the electric guitar.

Some fans speculated that the pair is working on music for the film adaptation of Mötley Crüe's biography, The Dirt - Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band.
