Tenacious D Announce New Album and Animated Series Called 'Post-Apocalypto'

September 5, 2018

Back in May, Tenacious D announced their first tour in five years and hinted that a new album was "probably" coming in 2018. On Tuesday (September 4), Jack Black and Kyle Gass confirmed that not only was the new album coming out this year, but its release was being paired with an animated series as well.

Both projects are called Post-Apocalypto, and both will most likely be hilarious and rock our faces off. Black hand drew every frame of the six-part series, and he and Gass voiced every character. Each episode will also include music from the upcoming album. The animated series is set to premiere September 28 on Tenacious D's YouTube page

Watch a teaser below.

Following the series' final episode, the comedy rock duo are slated to drop the album on November 2. It will be the first record from the band since 2012's Rise of the Fenix. According to a press release, Post-Apocalypto is about Tenacious D being “thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction following the drop of an atomic bomb.”
