Does this mean Kanye West and Jay-Z are cool again?
Kanye is mister make-amends these days. After ending his feud with Drake with a nine-tweet apology, Kanye has now seemingly made amends with his former bestie Jay-Z. On Saturday (September 8), Ye sent the Internet into a tailspin when he announced that the sequel to his and Jay's award-winning joint album Watch The Throne was on the way. "throne 2 coming soon," he wrote, hinting at the long-awaited follow-up to their 2011 record.
Kanye's tweet came as a surprise to many, as fans know, Kanye and Ye have not been on the best of terms for some time now. Not only that, Kanye once said Watch the Throne 2 would "never" happen due to "political sh*t" between him and Jay that also stopped them from getting on the official version of Drake's single "Pop Style."
"There will never be a Watch the Throne 2," Kanye told a Seattle crowd during his 2016 "Saint Pablo Tour." "You know why? Because that’s the reason why I wasn’t on [Drake's] song. I wasn’t on the song 'cause of Hov, 'cause of this Tidal, Apple, bullsh*t. And this sh*t be getting me tight every time I perform this motherf**ker. Y'all didn’t get what y'all was supposed to get with me and Drake on this because of this Tidal, Apple, bullsh*t."

It was during Ye's "Saint Pablo Tour" in 2016 that fans first got to see the cracks in his and Jay's friendship. During Kanye's tour stop in Sacramento, he called out Jay and his wife Beyoncé for not taking his calls. “Jay-Z, I know you got killers,” he said. “Please don’t send them at my head. Please call me. Talk to me like a man.”
Jay then fired back on his 4:44 album when he made a reference to Kanye on his song “Kill Jay Z." “You walkin’ around like you invincible / You dropped outta school, you lost your principles / I know people backstab you, I feel bad, too / But this ‘fuck everybody’ attitude ain’t natural / But you ain’t the same, this ain’t KumbaYe / But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye,” he rapped.
Earlier this year, Kanye told Charlamagne Tha God that he "was hurt about [Jay-Z and Beyoncé] not coming to [his 2014] wedding." “I understand they was going through some things," he explained. "But if [we’re] family, you’re not gonna miss a wedding. I’m not using this interview to put any negative things, but I gotta state my truth.” When Charlamagne told him, that he should address that with Jay since "those are questions you can get answers for," Kanye replied: “I don’t think the answer fixes it."
Despite Kanye's lack of enthusiasm to address their issues, Jay told David Letterman in April that Kanye is his "brother." “We’re beyond friends," he said. "Really, like literally, my little brother is Kanye, and like your little brother, things happen sometimes.”
