Ronnie Ortiz-Magro from MTV's hit show Jersey Shore has made some headlines over the summer. While the cast of Jersey Shore is back on TV for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Ronnie was in the news for some not-as-happy reasons. In April, Ronnie's girlfriend, Jen Harley, live-streamed him getting into a physical altercation with her. Then, in June, Harley was arrested and charged with domestic battery after she was accused of dragging Ronnie with her car while their baby daughter, Ariana, was in the backseat. She posted bail and the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. Now, Jen and Ronnie seem to be happy together, though Ronnie might not be so thrilled with the response he is getting to a recent Instagram post.
The reality star put up a photo of his five-month-old in a pink bow, a pink ruffled, off-the-shoulder shirt and ripped jeans. He captioned it, "When you realize it's #Jerzday!!! "#FaceYouMakeWhenYouGetToWatchDaddyOnTv #HappyBaby #HappyJerzday." The adorable child seems very comfortable in the pic, but plenty of commenters chose to dad-shame Ronnie.
Many had an issue with the shredded jeans Ronnie put his child in.
Other commenters pointed out that it is actually dangerous to dress a child in ripped jeans. One wrote, "Just pleeeease be careful that those loose strings donβt get wrapped around her tiny toes! Happened to my little sister."
Us Weekly reached out to a pediatrician who explained it is possible for the child's leg to get "stuck or twisted" in a hole in her pants. Worse, a thread could come loose, wrap around part of her body and cut off circulation, which the doctor said "can be very painful and if not found right away, can cause long term damage to the extremity."
Regardless of the dad-shaming, the photo still got 200,000 likes.
