Michael Buble On Son's Cancer Battle: We Were Just Surviving

Michael Bublé is back with new music after taking a hiatus to focus on his family. In October 2016, Bublé' son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer. In an emotional new interview, the Canadian singer opened up about the difficult past few years. "We were just surviving, struggling to survive, and to breathe," he said during an interview on The Today Show. "I much rather would have it have been me. Many times I wish that it had been."

Bublé said there were even "some days when we wished we didn’t wake up," but that when they did get up, his family "felt the love of those people. We knew they were praying for us, we knew that there was goodness out there. It gave us faith in humanity."

Speaking through tears, Bublé said, "I’ve been through a lot. One of the things about going through something that my family has been through is that it gives you great perspective and one of those points of perspective is that it really allows you to appreciate the good things."

Thankfully, Noah, now 5, is doing well. Bublé and wife Luisana Lopilato are also parents to 2-year-old son Elias and baby girl Vida, who they welcomed in July.

Bublé’ put his career on hold following his son's diagnosis so he could be there for Noah. Now, though, Bublé is back with new music. He says his son's battle has inspired his greatest record yet. His 10th record “Love” will be released in November.
