Pink Floyd Drummer Nick Mason to Tour North America in 2019

Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets, the drummer's tribute to Pink Floyd's early catalog, is coming to North America next year. 

Mason announced the band with a run of tour dates in Europe earlier this year. The jaunt was so successful that Mason and his group have added a number of dates in the U.S.  

"With the help of some like-minded friends, I have embarked on a voyage of discovery of the music that was the launch pad of Pink Floyd and my working life," Mason said in a press release. "It seems too early to retire, and I missed the interaction with other musicians."

The tour will mark Mason's first in North American since 1994 when Pink Floyd toured in support of The Division Bell.

The drummer said this past spring that to be a gentleman, he was sure to get the blessing of his surviving Pink Floyd band mates, David Gilmour and Roger Waters, before moving ahead with the project. 

He told Rolling Stone that both Gilmour and Waters "were supportive."

"...[Playing] the early Pink Floyd stuff doesn't impinge on what Roger or David do or what [the tribute band] the Australian Pink Floyd do," Mason said. "I could find myself a comfortable niche and do it for the sheer joy."

Mason's all-star band includes former Pink Floyd touring bassist Guy Pratt, with Spandau Ballet singer Gary Kemp on lead vocals and guitarist Lee Harris and keyboardist Dom Beken.
