Despite his celebrity, Tekashi 6ix9ine hasn't received special treatment since getting arrested on Sunday (November 18). However, the rapper is reportedly being moved from the "notoriously brutal" Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn where he's currently being held.
As TMZ reports, the 22-year-old has been transferred to a new federal facility that is often used for witnesses cooperating with authorities. Sources connected to the unnamed detention center said federal authorities authorized the transfer Wednesday night (November 21). Other sources told the outlet 6ix9ine requested to be moved to a unit away from the Crips and Bloods.
Though the "FEFE" rapper's lawyer Lance Lazzaro denied to comment whether or not his client plans to cut a deal with authorities and rat out others involved in his case, he did say the transfer was made due to "security reasons."
6ix9ine was arrested on six felony charges that include racketeering, firearms, assault with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit murder. The crimes were associated with the Nine Trey Bloods gang. Earlier this week, he was denied bail despite his lawyer offering up $1.7 million from his bank account and surrendering his passport before trial begins. He's looking at 32 years to life in prison if convicted.
Though the young star has repped gang ties in the past, he has since denounced his Nine Trey Bloods association and has expressed concerns about his family's safety.
