XXXtentacion's girlfriend Jenesis Sanchez has given birth to a baby boy named Gekyume Onfroy.
“We’re happy to confirm that Baby and Mother are healthy,” says a press statement released Saturday night (January 26). “Gekyume’s name is derived from a word X created prior to his passing, which means ‘a different state’ or ‘next’ universe of thought. XXXTentacion specifically chose this name for his first born son; his family is honored to fulfill his wish and shower baby Gekyume with love.”
The rapper was shot and killed outside a motorsports store in Deerfield Beach, Florida on June 18, 2018. Four men have since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm. The rising star was only 20 years old.
Shortly after his death, it was revealed that Sanchez was pregnant with the couple's first child.
Since his passing, numerous artists in the hip-hop community have paid tribute in various ways. Lil Peep shared a posthumous collaboration called "Falling Down" in September and Kodak Black says he talks to X in the after life.
The late rapper is up for a posthumous iHeartRadio Music Award this year for "Best New Hip-Hop Artist" Find out who will be taking home an award this year by tuning into FOX on March 14th where the show will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles from 8-10pm ET/PT.
