Geezer Butler will be back on tour just two years after retiring Black Sabbath.
The legendary bassist's new band, Deadland Ritual, has announced that its first tour will begin June 4 in Copenhagen and continue through the band's previously announced appearance at Hellfest in France.
Butler is joined in Deadland Ritual by fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and former Guns N' Roses/Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum, longtime Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens and front man Franky Perez.
After announcing its lineup late last year, the band revealed an inaugural single "Down in Flames" in December.
Butler said in a recent interview that he began writing music for his solo project, GZR, after getting bored of retirement, but then got a call from Sorum about starting a band.
The bassist told Eddie Trunk that he jumped at the chance to be in another band situation.
"If I feel like writing a song today, I call up Steve, go around to Steven's house and we try something," he said.
While Deadland Ritual doesn't yet have a full studio album's worth of material, that could well change by the summer. Still, Sorum said in recent interviews that the band's live sets, for the time being, will consist of tunes from the band members' back catalogs.
So far all the tour dates are in Europe, but since the band members all apparently reside in California, it shouldn't be too much longer till Deadland Ritual brings its live show to North America.
