Ariana Grande Lands Second No. 1 Single With '7 Rings'
January 29, 2019
Ariana Grande is reigning on the charts yet again.
On Monday (January 28), Billboard reported the singer-songwriter's trap-infused record "7 Rings" premiered in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Grande's latest single, released in tandem with a music video on January 18, celebrates her second track to top the chart and debut at number one.
Not to mention, the record, the third offering from the vocalist's upcoming fifth studio album Thank U, Next , also debuted a No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs Chart (dated February 2) , garnering 85.3 million first-week streams in the U.S. in the week ending on January 24.
The fact is even sweeter seeing as "7 Rings" has the second-largest streaming week for a woman — but only after Grande's own "Thank U, Next," which has held the crown at 93.8. million first-week streams since December 2018. The latter also became the musician's first No. 1 in November 2018.
Additionally, Ari is the second female artist to land a pair of debuts on the Streaming Songs chart in its six-year history after Taylor Swift broke the record with "Blank Space" and "Look What You Made Me Do" in 2014 and 2017.
"Our second number one debut in three months. i love the people i made these songs with more than words can express," the 26-year-old wrote in reaction to her hit going No. 1. "On some true, forever s**t. i’m gonna cry again so this is where this caption ends lmao. thank y’all for everything. i’m externally [sic] grateful."
